For a number of years, I had the opportunity to be the publisher of quarterly kid publications for Associated Foods and Country Mart, both wholesale food distributors in Salt Lake City and in the mid-western U.S. Our team took food brand sponsor advertising and turned it into creative to engage family and youth audiences for local grocery stores throughout their chains. Kids Country and This & That are examples of the quarterly publications we produced that included kid-friendly recipe ideas, creative things to do with groceries, activities centered around sponsors, and ideas for parents. The magazine was used as a point of sale to engage shoppers in specific brands. Being able to do photoshoots with kid models, food style the many product shots, plan ideas and activities to bring them to life on the pages, and design magazines that would engage families was an enjoyable challenge.
